SC will examine if governors action subverts federalism

The Supreme Court agreed on Friday , to examine the governor indefinitely , sitting on crucial bills only to eventually refer them to the president , who acts on the advice of the center , opening the doors of the Union in state subjects .

In the petition filed by Kerala government , it said that there were seven bills which had been kept for the consideration of the center for two or more years . Kerala said that the center had withheld seven bills without assigning any reason.  The bills didn’t deal with center state relations .

Article 213 gives power to the governor to withhold a bill for considerations of the President .

SC extends stay on Uttarakhand , UP .order to shops on Kanwar Yatra route

A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and S.V.N Bhatti refused to rethink the court’s earlier stay on implementation of a directive issued to display names of food cart owners in route of Kanwar Yatra . The bench extended the stay order till August 5 .

The UP government argued that the directive was as per law . “ It is a requirement by law . Your lordship’s order staying it violates a central law . “ Mr Mukul Rohatgi said .

“ Then enforce it  all across and not only in certain areas . “ The court said .

The Uttarakhand government said that such directives were issued in “ all festivals “ and were an antidote to “ law and order problem “ .

The petitioner had argued discriminatory nature of the directive . 

17 candidates secured perfect scores as NTA declared final results of NEET UG

NTA on Friday released final marks of NEET UG test . 17 candidates got full scores .

NTA has awarded full marks on a question which had two correct answers according to two different books . Old NCERT book had one answer correct , while the new NCERT book had the other answer correct . The court  intervened and after consultation by experts , it was decided that only the answer from the new NCERT book was correct . And those who answered correctly according to the old NCERT were deducted 5 marks ( 4 marks for correct answers , one negative mark for wrong answers ) .

Earlier the total number of candidates scoring full marks was 67 . Now the number is 17 .

Meanwhile , CBI has arrested one more candidate from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district .

This is the 37 th arrest in the case .

Royal burial mounds of Assam now a UNESCO world heritage List

The Chairadeo Moidams , 700 year old burial mounds burial systems of Ahoms dynasty from Assam , were added to UNESCO world heritage list on Friday . This makes them 43rd entry in UNESCO world heritage site , from India to be included in the prestigious index .

This is the first World Heritage site from North Eastern states in the cultural category .

The announcement was made at the 46th session of the world heritage committee in New Delhi .

Similar to pyramids , the Modems are earthen burial mounds of the members of the Ahom royalty , whose 600 year rule was ended by British royalty .

Of the 386 modems explored so far , 90 at Chair Deo is best preserved .

This makes Charaideo district a tourist destination .

PM defends Agnipath Scheme on anniversary of Kargil war

Speaking at the anniversary of Kargil war , PM Modi defended Agnipath Scheme , and warned Pakostan of “a  befitting reply “ of its proxy war  in Jammu and Kashmir . He attacked the opposition for not prioritising the Armed forces’ needs .

“ The agneepath scheme is an example of necessary reform done by the army . For some people , the army was meant to salute politicians and parades . But the army means the faith of 140 crore countrymen . The goal of Agnipath is to make the army Young to keep the army continuously fit for war . “ Mr Modi said .

He hailed his  effort towards indigenousness , “ today we have a list of 5000 weapons that is no longer being exported from outside “

He accused Pakistan of using “ proxy war “ in Jammu and Kashmir , he held that the Army will crush all efforts of terrorists with full force .

After arson attack on Paris rail network , show by seine rolls out Paris

The Paris Olympics officially started with a spectacular ceremony . This is the first time that the opening ceremony was  not planned in a stadium but outside along the seine river .

The players had to parade on boats in the river .

Indian contingent was led by the flag bearers PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal .

India has sent 117 athletes , 70 men and 47 women and will be competing for 69 medals in. 16 events .

Earlier France rail network was paralysed by coordinated attempts to arson . Most of the high speed trains were knocked out . This sample set the mood of the opening ceremony in the beginning .  But the opening ceremony proved to be totally spectacular show .

I will not be silent on Gaza , Harris tells PM Netanyahu .

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting with US President Joe Biden ,  vice President Kamala Harris and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump .

Vice President and Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris took a tough stance and spoke for suffering in Gaza .

She called Mr Netanyahu and said that it was time to end the “ devastating “ war .

“ What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating . The images for dead children and desperate Hungary people fleeing for safety , sometimes second , third or fourth time .”

“ We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies . We can not allow ourselves to become numb , to the suffering and I will not be silent . ” She told the press persons

She said she pressed Mr Netanyahu in a dire and “ Frank “ meeting . She called for the establishment of a Palestinian state and urged Israel and Hamas to agree on a ceasefire plan .

President Joe Biden in his meeting with Mr Netanyahu pressed to finalise a ceasefire deal and “  reach a durable end of the war in Gaza .”

Mr Trump sharply criticised his democrat candidate on this and pledged to work for peace in the Middle East if he is reelected .

Srilankan Presidential polls to be held on sept 21

Sri Lanka’s presidential polls will be held on September 21 .  Election. Commission said on Friday .

Srilankan Presidential Ranil Wockramshinghe announced his candidacy for the presidential post .

The election is expected to be three cornered with Leader of Opposition , Sajith Premdasa , and leader of National People’s Power ( NPP ) alliance Anura Kumar Dissyanke  being the other contenders .

The Rajpakshas’ SLPP is yet to name its candidates and is likely to be a non- Rajpaksha .

This will be first time that Mr Wickramshighe

All past elections in Sri Lanka had two main contenders , and  in most cases one obvious winner .

EU trasfers 1.5 billion euros raised from Russian assets in Europe

The EU on Friday said 1.5 billion euros has been made to support Ukraine .

EU had earlier said that it will fund reconstruct in Ukraine by profits from Frozen Russian Assets in Europe .

Russia’s Federal security services ( FSB ) has held that Dmitry Burgakow , a former deputy defense minister , had been arrested and was charged with corruption .

US arrests Medical drug lord ‘ El Mayo ‘ and  El Chapo’s son

Mexican drug kingpin Ismail ‘ El Mayo ‘ Zambada and son of his former partner “ El Chapo “ has been arrested in a coup in Texas .

Zambada is a most consequential traffickers in Mexican history .he co founded the Sinalora Cartel with El Chapo .

He is facing multiple charges in US . 

With uncertainty across the Atlantic Europe worries about its own security

The policies of Donald Trump is not to get involved more in NATO , rather they want their focus on Asia .

The vice Presidential candidate , JD Vince clearly said that he was against US funding the Ukraine war  . He has said that the US could not bear the security of European countries  .

European countries need to participate more in NATO , they would need to increase their funding and military presence .

Currently US funds are two times more than the combined European countries dp to NATO .

“No matter who wins the next election , we Europeans need to do more to ensure our own safety . “ Josep Borell EU foreign policy chief, wrote in a newspaper article .

Non US NATO members are expected to  increase their share of funding in NATO , which is currently less than 2% of GDP .
