Karnataka halts job bill amid industry uproar
The draft bill cleared by the Karnataka cabinet to impose reservation for locals in Jobs garnered adverse reaction from Industry and Trade bodies . The Karnataka government late on Wednesday announced that the bill has been “ temporarily upheld “ and a decision would be taken after a review .

Pri pcandidates in Industries , factories and other establishment bill , 2024 has following provisions :
- The bill mandated 50 % reservation for Kannada speaking people in management related jobs , while 70% reservation for non management positions.
- Under the bill a local candidate is that “ who is born in Karnataka and who is domiciled in the state for a period of 15 years . And who is capable of reading and writing Kannada in a legible way. And has passed a required test conducted by agency .
12 militant group active in Jammu and Kashmir
Over 12 militant groups operating in twos and threes are suspected to be active in pir Panjal valley , and Chenab valley of Jammu region .
The militants are using Virtual Private Network ( VPN ) which can not be controlled by Indian authorities .
They used YSMS technology which is hard to trace , also using SIM Less Phone activation .
Use of these technologies makes their movement very hard to detect by Indian security intelligence..
People residing in these regions have reported a high number of militant movements .

12 women including women from Kipagad and Chandgaon Kasanaur Dalmas , were killed in a gunfight with security personnel .

Nine of 13 crew members of capsized oil tanker rescued by Navy off Oman coast
Comoros flagged oil tanker MV Prestige Falcon , capsized off the Oman coast on July 15 .
Indian Navy under Operation Turn around. (OTR) has rescued nine crewed members – eight Indians and one Srilankan .The Navy said late on Wednesday .
The tanker has a 16 member crew, 13 Indians and three Srilankans .
The operation to rescue the rest of the members is still going on .
Indian Navy has also deployed P8I long range maritime patrol aircraft in Search and Rescue Operation ( SAR ) .
Indian railway relaxes rules of ‘ make in India “ walkie talkie sets .
Indian railways has relaxed “ make in India ” norms to procure “ very high frequency ( VHF ) procurement system from the global market .
The move is significant under the preliminary report by the Chief Commissioner Railway Safety ( CCRS ) , who probed the incident of Kunchejuga Express accident .
In the report it was pointed out that Loco Pilot and Train Manager had no Walkie Talkies and they were communicating with phones .
The report has pointed out a heavy shortage of walkie talkies under Katihar section of Indian railways .
10 Indian dogs in Paris to guard Paris Olympics
10 Indian dogs along with 17 handlers from India are in Paris to provide security for the Olympics at the request of the French Mission in India .
This is the first time an Indian K-9 contingent will perform such duties abroad , the Ministry of External Affairs ( MEA ) said .
1750 security personnel from 40 different countries will be present as reinforcement during the game .
For the first time , the opening will not be performed in the stadium but in the city itself , along the main artery of the country , the seine river , a symbol to reach out to all , one of the organizers said .
State can not tinker with scheduled caste list , says the SC
The SC had held that the states cannot tinker with the Scheduled Castes ( SC ) list notified under Article 341 of the constitution .
“ Any inclusion and exclusion of any caste , race or tribe or part of the or group within the caste , races or tribe has to be , by law made by parliament , and not by any other mode or manner .” a bench of Justice Vikram Nath and PK Mishra said in judgment .
The judgment came on a previous notification by Bihar government on recommendation of the State OBC department to merge the Tanti Tantwa group ( EBC category ) with the Scheduled caste of Pan Sawasi group in the Scheduled caste list .
“ The state government had no competence authority in power to tinker with the power of scheduled caste ,published under Article 341 of the constitution published under Article 341 of constitution “ , Justice Nath concluded .
Article 341(2) clearly states that any inclusion or exclusion under scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribe or of any race should be done by parliament only .

Back channel talk with China under way , says Tibetan leader
The Central Tibetan Administration ( CTA ) has been holding talks with Chinese authorities “ through a third country “ , Penna Tshering , Sikyong or President of CTA , said here on Wednesday .
Mr Ssikyong was talking to the media before heading to the USA to counter renaming of Tibetan territories by Chinese authorities , by carrying a map that will carry the names of all places in Tibetan language .
Mr Tshering termed Tibet as a “ conflict “issue . He also said that Chinese occupation of Tibet was the real problem .
CTA is the Tibetan government in exile based in Dharamshala , India .
Dalai Lama in his recent and earlier starements has said that they dont want independence of Tibet from China , they rather want development of Tibet.
Recently, US has passed Resolve Tibet Act ( RTA ) which says Tibet as a “ conflicted “ issue . It talks about independence of Tibet from China .
China has termed it as interference in its internal affairs and against Chinese sovereignty .

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that Taiwan “ should pay “ the United States for defense .

This shows that there can be a major change regarding policy towards Taiwan if Mr Trump comes to power .

In first observation while granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal for second time , SC bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna in a 64 page order said that ED would have to prove the need of “ necessity of arrest “, before arresting a person .
Section 19 of PMLA speaks of arresting person officer being required to have “ reason to believe “ , that the person is guilty of money laundering charges before being arrested .
The court reiterated that the arrest under PMLA cannot be on a whim .
