SC to hear the plea to include CJI on EC selection panel

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court by Association
for Democratic Reform ( ADR ) , the NGO
in its plea had requested urgent hearing on the matter of how CEC and ECs need
to be appointed .
·
It said that the center could take
“ unfair advantage “ , while filling the post of two ECs .
·
The plea has demanded that the
current vacancy be filled according to the March 2023 Judgement of the Supreme
Court . Means the committee of Prime Minister (PM) , Chief Justice of India (CJI) and Leader of Opposition (LoP) should choose
the ECs .
·
Also for future CJI should be back
in the selection committee .
·
The Government recently passed a
law according to which the committee of the PM , LoP and a Union Minister chose
the EC .
·
SC has listed the case for
Friday’s hearing .
·
Earlier .
Kerala rejects center’s one time offer of ₹5000 crore to
tide over fund crunch.
·
The Union government said on
Wednesday that it could spare only ₹5000 crore as one time measure to avert an
immediate financial crisis . Center further said that it would deduct the
amount from the borrowing ceiling in the first nine months of financial year
2024 -25 .Also the state will not be allowed any “ ad hoc “ borrowing in
2024-25 if it takes ₹5000 crore .

Rejecting the offer , Kapil Sibbal
representing Kerala said that it wants a minimum ₹10,000 crore .

The case will be heard next week .

Earlier , SC had given both
parties time to settle the issue outside the court .

But the two sides were not able to
meet any common ground .

Mantri Samajik Uttathan evam Rojgar Adharit Jankalyan ( PM SURAJ ) portal for
credit support to entrepreneurs from support to entrepreneurs from

point where people from disadvantaged sections of society can apply for

Panel recommends ban on ‘ ferocious dogs’

An expert committee constituted by
Department of Animal Welfare and Husbandry has , Ministry of Agriculture has
recommended that certain breeds of “ ferocious dogs’ ‘ , be prohibited as being
kept as pets .

The committee was constituted
after a citizens group complained of fatal attacks by these dogs on people .
·
The breeds that are banned
includes pitbull terrier , American Bulldog , Kangal , Asian Shepherd dog ,
Rottweiler , Terriers ,Rhodesian Terrier , Wolf dogs etc .

The rules are expected to be
implemented by local authorities . Already existing dogs will be sterilized .
