Shun divisive speeches , EC tells BJP, Congress

The Election Commission (EC ) on Wednesday wrote to the party Presidents of BJP and Congress .

In its letter to BJP , EC has told its star campaigners to refrain from campaigning using “ religious or communal “ lines .

“ EC expects the BJP , as the ruling party , to align the campaign methods to be the practical aspects of India’s composite and sensitive fabric “ .

In the letter to Congress chief EC said ,” to convey to start campaigners not to make statements that give false impression that the constitution may be abolished “

HC cancels OBC certificates issued in Bengal since 2010

The Calcutta High court on Wednesday cancelled all Other Backward Classes  ( OBC ) certificates issued in West Bengal since 2010 .

The order however clarified that those who has got the job using these certificates won’t get affected .

The court said that state government deviated form established legal protocols in issueing OBC certificate post 2010

The Bench struck down several  portions of West Bengal  Backward Class ( Other thar SC and ST ) act .

With vice president in Theran ,India shows solidarity with Iran

Vice President. Jagdeep Dhankaar arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to participate in memorial services for Iranian President Mohammad Raisi , and Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian.

Mr Dhankar met with Iran’s, acting President Mohammad Mokhber in Tehran .

Dignitaries from 40 other nations were also present at the event .

Mr Raisi will be buried in Masshad on Thursday .

Nearly half the financial frauds targetting Indians originate from three South East Asian cointres of Myanmar , Cambodia and Laos  , CEO of Indian cyber crime coordination center said on Wednesday .

Khan declines ordinance on ward delimitation citing MCC

A  special cabinet meeting of Kerala govt has recently decided to increase the number  of wards in ahead of 2025 local body polls .

The cabinet had passed an ordinance regarding this .

On Wednesday , Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan declined to passing the ordinance citing MCC in action .

World

Ireland ,Norway and Spain set to formally recognise the statehood of Palestine

Ireland , Norway , and Spain announced on Wednesday that they will formally recognise  the state of Palestine .

The formal recognition of Palestine is expected to  take place on May 28 .

Speaking to press persons , Ireland’s Prime Minister Simon Harris linked this with Ireland’s own freedom from Britain.  He said that this would lead to peace and reconciliation in West Asia . Ireland also recognised  Israel’s right to exist “ securely and at peace “ with Palestine .

Norway has been involved in peace talks with Israel and Palestine for decades . The Oslo Peace Agreement in 1990 was to resolve the Israel Palestine solution .

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said  in Parliament thats its decision was not against Israel but in favour of “ peace ,Justice and moral consistency .”

Israel is furious as US European. trip recognises Palestine

Recognition of Palestine by Ireland , Norway and Spain has brought praise by many Arab countries .

The announcement has drawn severe criticism by Israel .

Israeli marked it as “ awarding terrorism “ .

Israel said immediately that it was recalling its envoy to Dublin , Oslo and Madrid for “ urgent consiltation “ and also summoned the three European ambassadors for a rebuke .

Russia places a space weapon in the   orbit of satellite : Pentagon

The US on Wednesday accused Russia to put a ‘ counter space weapon ‘ in the same orbit as a US satellite in Low Earth Orbit .

Kremlin Spokesperson in its response declined to comment on this but said that’s Russia abided by International law and advocated banning any weapon in space .

Recently Russia had brought a resolution in UNSC regarding non proliferation of space .

Russia on Tuesday had accused US of weaponizing of space after US vetoed the motion .

Sunak announces UK poll for July 4

British PM Rishi Sunak on Wednesday announced that the UK would go for parliamentary polls on July 4 .

Buoyed by the need of inflation hitting a three year low , Mr Sunak said that this was proof that his plans to bring back the economy was working .

Mr Sunak accused opposition leader of not having a plan .

The two major parties that will go for polls in Conservative Party or Tories  whose Prime Minister candidate is Rishi Sunak .  Labour Party’s PM candidate is expected to be Jeremy Corbyn .

The ECI is too important an institution to be left on its own devices .

The editorial is about ECI letters to chiefs of BJP and Congress . In letter to BJP chief JP Nadda , EC asked JP Nadda to tell it’s “ star campaigners “  to not use languages that “ may divide the society “ .

In letter to Mr Kharge it asks it’s candidates to refrain from manking any statement that causes tension between different caste and communities .

EC has taken some important action on BJP candidate , Abhijit Gangopadhyay , YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy , BRS chief K Chndrashekjar Rao .BJP chief Sobha Kardanje and Dillip Ghose etc .

The editorial says that ECI has served its role well but there is scope for improvement .

Justified and Balance

The ICC has done well to move against  Israel , Hamas leaders for Gaza crimes .

The editorial is about the recent judgement of International Criminal Court in Israeli PM , denfese minister and three Hamas leaders has been warranted for arrest .

ICC cited war crime , human rights violation in its judgement .

Three European countries  France , Slovenia and Belgium has supported ICC’s decision .

Earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin had also been prosecuted by ICC .

ICC verdict though not binding , but a member country can arrest the culprits  in its territory .

The editorial has hailed ICC’s recent verdict .
