9 Maoist , including 6 women killed in Dantewada operation

Nine Maoist , six  of them women, were killed in an anti-Naxal operation in the forest along the boundary of Dantewada and Bijapur districts .

A joint team of district reserve guards , Bastar fighters , and the CRPF was conducting a search  operation .

A large quantity of arms and ammunition  were recovered  in a search operation in the jungle .

The number of deaths of naxalites this year has crossed  150 .

Recently , home minister Amit Shah had said that Naxalism would be eliminated by March 2026  .

Currently  34  districts are marked as  hit , most  of them are in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand .

Bengal passes Bill that moots death for rape

The West Bengal government on Tuesday passed the Aprajita Women and Child ( West Bengal Criminal Laws Amendment  ) Bill , 2024 .

The act that amends Bhartiya Nyay Samhita ( BNS ) and POCSO Act  has extended provision of Punishment in cases of rape , gang rape , rape that results in death of victim and  that leaves the victim in vegetative state .

In all these cases the punishment has been increased to  Life imprisonment and Death .

Under BNS , only charges under POCSO life imprisonment or death sentence are there .

Under the law Investigation in rape cases should be concluded within 21 days of initial report .

 West Bengal CM called the bill as a “historic and model “ legislation .

4.15 lakh people affected by floods in A.P.

Flood situation in Andhra Pradesh has worsened .  India Navy has deployed naval teams , diving teams  to augment the humanitarian assistance  for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts .

The Navy has deployed four helicopters for search and rescue operations .

The Andhra Pradesh   government has shifted 43,417 people to 163 relief camps after heavy rains caused floods in the state .

It has set up 197 medical camps .

At least 17 people have died in Andhra Pradesh. . Agriculture crop loss was reported as 1, 80,244 hectares in 20 districts .

The World Bank hikes India’s economic growth forecast to 7% for 2024- 25 .

The world bank has forecasted 7% economic growth for fiscal year 2024- 25 .

This is a revised estimate from the previous 6.6 % .

This is in line with the growth forecast with the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) and Asian Development Bank ( ADB ) , both have forecasted 7% growth for the Indian economy in FY25 .

Centre gives nod to defence proposals worth ₹1.44 lakh crore

The Defense Acquisition Council ( DAC ) chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh , on Tuesday accorded Acceptance of Necessity to procure 10 capital acquisitions at the cost of ₹1.44 lakh crore .

These are : .

  • Procurement of seven stealth frigates under project 17 B

Project 17b is a planned guided missile frigate to be manufactured by Garden Reach ShipBuilders ( GRSE ) and Mazagon Dock Limited ( MDL ) . This  will be technically more advanced than the previous Nilgiri class frigate ( Project 17 A ) .

  • Future Ready Combat Vehicle ( FRCV ) for army as replacement of main battle tanks

FRCV tanks will replace these large numbers of T 72 and T 90 tanks used by the Indian Army .

  • Air Defense fire Control Radar ( FCR ) – This will provide enhanced detect and track capability to frigates being made .
  • To enhance capabilities of Indian Coast Guard ( ICG ) – Dornier 228 aircraft , next generation far patrol vessel ,next generation patrol vessels
  • The proposal has also been approved for the forward repair team ( tracked ) which has a suitable cross country mobility for carrying out in situ repair during

Of the total cost ,99% is from indigenous sources .

Defense Acquisition Council ( DAC) is the highest decision making body ministry of defence that decides on capital expenditure in armeD forces . It is headed by Defense. Ministers and includes CDS and chief of three armed wings .

Acceptance of Necessity ( AON ) is  approval by the Ministry of Defense to procure Defense items . It is the first step of procurement .

AON is issued only when the operational requirement is of imminent category or if any crisis has emerged without prior warning .

‘Looted ammunition used for Manipur Drone attack ‘

The Drones used to bomb two Meitie dominated  Villages in West imphal on September 1 were likely assembled locally . The ammunition looted from Police armour was likely used in the attack .

The information was shared by a government source to The Hindu .

On september 1 , Drone bombing was launched by kuki zo community from Churachandpur on West Imphal district .

Two people had died while 12 had got injured in the attack.

Currently a buffer zone exists between Meitie dominated areas such as West Imphal and Kuki Zo dominated areas such as Churachandpur district .  Central security forces are deployed in the buffer zone . Security forces have been given orders to shoot anyone trying to cross the buffer zone .

To surpass the buffer zone , drone bombing was used   .

Assam Rifles said that the equipment to assemble drones might be sold by People Defence Forces , Myanmar.

The Manipur government has formed a five member committee to probe the drone bombing incident .

Currently about 60,000 central security forces that include CRPF and Assam Rifles are deployed to keep peace in Manipur .

Congress ,AAP start talks for Haryana poll Alliance

Congress and AAP are in talks of seat sharing for Haryana Assembly polls .  Earlier Congress has said that it will not form a coalition with AAP in Haryana . But Congress now said that it does not want votes against BJP to get divided to be the reason behind seat sharing.

In 90 assembly seats , AAP is demanding 10 seats , while Congress is offering 7 .

The negotiation is still going on .

47 killed ,over 200 injured in Russian strike on Ukrainian military institute

At least 47 people were killed and 206 were wounded when Russia struck a military institute in the central town of Paltova with two missiles on Tuesday .

The attack is the deadliest single attack this year .

Among the dead are many new recruiters who were undergoing training .

Putin visits Mongolia after brushing aside ICC warrant

Russian President Vladmtr Putin visits Mongolia on Tuesday with no sign that the host country would call to arrest him on an International Criminal Court ( ICC ) warrant .

ICC had issued an arrest warrant against Mr Putin more than a year ago over the war in Ukraine .

Mongolia is an ICC member , according to ICCc rules , a ICC member has to arrest those under arrest warrant .

This is Mr Putin’s first visit to any ICC member country . He had attended the BRICS summit last year that was held in South Africa , also an ICC member .

President Putin was welcomed with full honour .On this occasion ,  Many agreements were signed between the two countries  .

Twelve migrants die , two go missing after trying to cross channel to UK

At least 12 migrants trying to cross the English Channel between France and the UK died when their boat capsized .

The tragedy occurred near town Wimereux , which is 5 km from Boulogne coast .

Among the dead is mostly from Eritrea ,

Ten of them were female and two male .

Demolition squad.

Courts cannot be oblivious to the political symbolism of the bulldozer .

The editorial is about recent observations of the supreme court on  demolition of houses , terming it as encroachment .

In many cases government of Uttar Pradesh , Madhya Pradesh and Haryana had demolished in the houses of accused .

The two judge bench headed by BR Gavai and Kv Vishwantahan said that law does not permit the demolition of houses of accused or even a convict .

Government in its defence said that those were illegally occupied and Municipal laws permitted such demolition .

The court  said that it will  issue a pan India guideline to be followed for demolition of property . Also it will be digitised so that the government can not use this illegally .
