India’s election results victory for democratic world , says PM

PM Modi is currently in Italy to take part in G7 summit . Speaking at a session on AI and other issues such as African Development and the Mediterranean , with Pope Francis and others , PM Modi hailed the electoral  victory as “ victory for the democratic world “ , He praised the democratic world for “ their impartiality and transperancy “ .  PM Modi also met the leaders of  UK , France ,Germany, Italy and Japan in a brief 24 hours meeting .

On the sidelines PM met Ukrainian President Vlodmyr Zelensky he said that India would do everything in its means to support a peaceful solution of the Ukrainian issue .

India UK ties

On meeting with UK PM Rishi Sunak , PM discussed “ India UK roadmap 2030 “ for bilateral relation .

An MEA statement , said that the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the negotiations on Free Trade Agreement between the two countries .

French President Emanual Macron. Also met with Modi .

India will be represented by Pavan Kumar , MEA secretary (West ) , in the upcoming Ukrainian Peace summit .

The summit will be held in Burgersotock Switzerland from June 15 -16 .

Switzerland had pressed hard so that PM Modi could participate .

SC asks NTA , govt to reply seeking probe into NEET UG

The Supreme Court ( SC ) on Friday asked the National Testing Agency ( NTA )  and center to respond to the pleas on seeking probe in the allegations in NEET UG 2024 test . The SC has given two weeks to center and NTA to reply on this . The next hearing will be on July 8 .

Petitioners are demanding probe by a committee of retired SC or HC judge or any investigating agency such as CBI .

Allegation by Petitioners :

Irregularities like different marks on the scorecards compared to their OMR sheets Unprecedented rise in cutoff  , question paper leaks etc .

Recently center said that about 1500 students who had been given grace marks will have to appear for retest . If they do not the original scorecard without grace marks will be final .

Aspirant step up stir seeking retest 

Several studetnts marched from  central secretariat in Delhi to Ministry of Education .

The students are demanding a retest for all the aspirats .

protesters were saying that they will continue with their protest till demand is met .

Education Minister Dhrmandra Pradhan said that accountability will be fixed in NTA if lapses were  discovered .

The Congress slammed the irregularities in NEET .it demanded SC monitored probe into the issue .

Karnataka HC halts arrest or detention of Yedurrappa

Karnataka High Court on Friday restrained the Criminal Investigating department ( CID ) , from either arrestting or detaining former CM B S a Yedurrappa in a criminal  case .

Mr Yedurappa is accused of sexually assaulting a 17 year old girl at his residence .

However , the court directed Yedurrappa to appear before before the CID on June 17 .

Delhi LG sanctions prosecution of Roy, Hussain under UAPA

Delhi LG has sanctioned prosecution of Novelist Arundhati Roy and Sheikh Shohwat Hussain  , former professor of University of Kashmir under Section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ( UAPA ) .

The two had onmade provocative speeches under a conference organized under the banner of “ Azadi the only way “ .

The two allegedly propogated “ separation of Kashmir from India “ .

Thousands gather for Kashmir’s Khir Bhawani  temple festival

Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits converged at Kashmir valleys Ganderbal district to celebrate Kheer Bhawani festival on Zyeshtha Ashthami ,on Friday .

Kheer Bhawani Mela is held every year  on Zeushtha Ashtami .

Many Kasmiri Hindus consider Kheer Bhawani Mata as their deity God . It is  second most important gathering of Hindus  in the region after Amarnath Yatra .

G 7 leaders say they will be back Ukrians ‘ as long as it takes ‘

G7 leaders recommitted on Friday to support Ukriane for “ as long as it takes “ , according to the draft staement from a summit where by they agreed on 50 billion dollar loan to Ukraine .

The loan will be backed by profits from Russia. Central banks assets frozen by western powers after Russia attacked Ukraine .

Myanmar’s Junta orders evacuation around Sittwe

Maynmar’s Junta has ordered more than 2 lakh people living in villages near Sittwe city to move in Sittwe .

The villagers have been given five days time to move in Sittwe . The Army has threatened to shoot anyone of they found them outside the city .

Arakan Army (AA ) the ethnic armed group has vowed to capture the Sittwe city . AA has captured vast swathes of Rakhine state in which Sittwe city lies.

Putin vows truce if Kyiv withdraws troops

Russian President promised on Friday to “ immediately “ order a ceasefire in Ukraine if Kyiv started withdrawals from the four regions annexed by Moscow  in 2022 and renounced plans to join NATO .

Mr Putin said that his proposal is aimed at a “ final resolution “ of the conflict .

In Burgenstock , leaders seek a peace framework for Ukraine , without Russia

Burgenstock will host the Ukrianian Peace Summit between June 15 -16 . Delegates from 90 countreis and International Organisations have been invited .

The summit is aimed at finding the solution of Ukraine Russia conflict .

Most of the heads of states of European Countries are expected to participate .

Russia has not been invited . China has said that it will not participate .

Brazil who is hosting G20 has also decided not to participate .

The conference will be held between US and UK

Policy makers must keep in mind that inflation hits the poor hardest

The editorial is about inflation figures of May .

The inflation eased to a twelve months low in May to 4.75 %.

Food inflation remained on higher side at 8.69% . The food inflation was at higher side in Urban areas .

Among the food items inflation in vegetable prices stood to be 27% in straight six month .

Among the vegetables Potato , Onion and Tomato has been important contrubutor for inflation this month .

Inflation in cereal also remained on higher side to be at 8.69%.

The railfall data till June 14 shows 12% deficit since June 1 . This is also not  in concurrence with IMD’s prediction of ‘ above normal ‘ monsoon .

Israel will have to face the accept the ceasefire proposal and face isolation

The editorial is about the recently passed resolution in UNSC that called Israel and Hamas to accept a ceasefire plan proposed by US president Joe Biden .

Though US says that the plan has been accepted by Israel and only Hamas needs to give its consent , Israeli PM Netanyahu has said that he will  eliminate Hamas first .

The Biden plan has three stages : In first stage six weeks long ceasefire is to be observed . Israel military will pull itself.  More aid trucks will be able to enter Gaza .Also the Hamas and Israel will exchange hostages and prisoners .

In second stage Israel has to completely pull out of Gaza .

The third stage talks about reconstruction of Gaza .

The causality in Gaza thus far has crossed 37,000 .

The editorial says that Israel has no option but to agree with ceasefire plan otherwise It may face isolation .
