Hindenburg report  raises political storm

Leader of Opposition  in the Lok Sabha , Rahul Gandhi on Saturday , demanded a JPC probe into Hindenburg charges on SEBI chairperson   Madhavi Puri Buch .

Leaders Of several opposition parties have also demanded a probe into the allegations in the Hindenburg recent report .

BJP has dismissed the claims asserting that many global forces with the help Of “Congress “ dynasty were attempting to halt India’s progress .

Ms Buch and her husband have denied “ the baseless insinuations made in the report “ .

The Adani group has described the report as “ a recycling of discredited claims that have been thoroughly investigated ,proven to be baseless and already dismissed by Hon’ble Supreme Court in January 2024 “.

Hindenburg in its recent report has claimed that SEBI Chief Madhavi Puri Buch was involved in offshore accounts of Adani that were charged by Hindenburg of inflating Adani’s share prices  .

SEBI led by Madhavi Puri Buch  in its investigation  had given clean Chit to Adani against allegations by Hindenburg .

SEBI ,  Buch  denies charges by Hindenburg ; investors advised to remain calm

SEBI Chairperson Madhavi Puri has denied charges against her and her husband  Dhaval Puri Buch .  The two said that their overseas holding structure was “ fully transparent “ in a regulatory finding .

SEBI denied such Allegations and had used investors to remain calm and exercise due diligence before reacting to such reports .

SEBI also stated a disclaimer  made in the report which says that  Hindenburg assumes Short position in the market     .

The Supreme Court, while refusing  to transfer the case of Hindenburg to  a special Investigation team from SEBI  , had said that the case can be transferred if it finds any bias in the investigation .

The court later had patted SEBI for its investigation and had held that its investigation “ inspired confidence “  .

Bangladesh government vows to end attack on minorities

The Bangladesh  interim government has said that it was working  to resolve attacks on Hindus and Other religious minorities .

Hindus are the largest minority in Bangladesh constituting about 8% of total population . Sheikh Hasina had seen attacks on Hindu temples ,  businesses and houses .

The cabinet said that it would “ immediately sit with the representative bodies and other groups to find ways to resolve such heinous attacks . “ .

Eleven Bangladesh nationals held while trying to enter India ‘

Amid the political unrest along the border BSF has increased its vigil along the Bangladesh border .

BSF in a statement said on Sunday  that 11 Bangladeshi nationals were held on the border while crossing India .

Two each from Bengal and Tripura border while seven from Meghalaya border.

For the past several days , crowds have been seen along the Bangladesh border in India for allegedly trying to enter India .

Bangladesh shares a 4096 km border with India  which is the highest in length Compared to borders shared with other neighbouring countries such as China and Pakistan.

Crest gate of Tungabhadra reservoir washed away ,alert issued as outflow set to increase.

A  Crest gate of Tungabhadra reservoir near   , in Vijayanagaram district of Karnataka was washed away late on Thursday,  raising fears of flooding downstream .

The authorities  have issued an alert asking people not to venture into the downstream as flow may increase 2 lakh cusecs at any time .

Immediately after the incident , The 32 Crest gates were opened to reduce the pressure on broken gates .

At present water is releasing at a rate of  98,000 cusecs , this is expected to increase .

Tungabhadra is an interstate project between Karnataka , Telangana and AndhrA Pradesh . The other states have also been informed of the incident.

Anantnag anti terror operation continues injured civilian dies

Two soldiers were killed and two civilians injured during an exchange of fire between security forces on Saturday .

The operation continued on Sunday.  A civilian died of injuries in the operation .

Police e said  that it would investigate  that how civilian was so close

 The terrorists are well trained terrorists hiding in the Jungles of Anantanag district of south Kashmir .

A second encounter between hiding terrorists and security forces broke out in Udhampur district on Sunday. 

Three to four terrorists are likely to be trapped in the area  , officials said.

Jaishankar concludes three day key visit to Maldives

EAM S Jaishankar concluded his three day visit to Maldives on Sunday .

During his visit , Mr Jaishankar called on President MuizZUe , and also held talks with foreign minister Musa Zameer .

Mr Jaishankar also inaugurated India’s Line of credit ( LoC ) assisted project of water and sewage network on 28 islands of the Maldives .

President Muizzue appreciated India’s continued development assistance and reaffirmed his commitment to deepen India Maldives ties , the Ministry of External Affairs ( MEA ) said in a statement .

This was the first visit of a Foreign Minister after Mr Muizzue took power. .

Mr Jaishankar’s visit shows India’s commitment to vision SAGAR ( Security and Growth for All in the Region )  , MEA said in a statement.

Biotechnologists detect differences in the use of Nitrogen by rice varieties .

Biotechnologists in  India have discovered  that different varieties of rice have different abilities to use Nitrogen.

This can help to develop varieties of rice crops that use less Nitrogen.

This will  reduce wastage of fertilisers which accounts to about 1 lakh crore per year .

PM Modi releases 109 High Yielding seed varieties

PM Modi On Sunday released 109 High yielding,  bio  fortified and climate resilient seed varieties of Agriculture and horticulture crop ,aiming to enhance productivity from farmer’s income .

Developed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research ( ICAR ) spans 61 crops , 27 field crops and 27 horticulture crops .

The field crop varieties include cereal , millet , oilseeds , pulses  , sugarcane , cotton and fibre crops . For horticulture , PM released new varieties of fruit , flowers , spices , medicinal plants etc .

Zelensky admits to kiev’s new offensive against Russia

For the first time on Saturday Ukrainian President Zelensky admitted that its forces were involved in  the  Kursk attack .

In a video he said that he had talked to the Ukrainian defence chief and vowed justice over Russia .

The Russian defence ministry said on Sunday that it had destroyed 14 Ukrainian drones and four Tochka U tactical ballistic missiles overnight   over the Kursk region , and 18 drones over other Russian regions .

Sunday was the sixth day of intense fighting between the two forces in Kursk . Civilians from the border region are being evacuated .

The Russian president cast the Ukrainian attack as a major provocation .

Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos on Sunday condemned “ illegal and reckless “ action by the Chinese air force against a Philippine air force turboprop  near Scarborough Shoal in South China sea .

Two Chinese air force aircraft undertook a “ dangerous manoeuvre “ and dropped flares in the path of Philippines air force turboprop over Scarborough shoal on Thursday , according to the Philippines military.

Mr Macros termed Chinese action “ unjustified,  illegal , and reckless “ as maritime was conducting routine operations .

China has defended Its action saying that It had “  repeatedly warned “ Filipino aircraft .

What is Google’s’ monopoly ‘ antitrust case and how does it affect consumers ?

On. August  5 , Google lost a major antitrust case against the US Department of Justice (DoJ ) in a US court .

The allegation against Google was of using its dominant position in the search engine market to elbow out rivals and maintain monopoly .

It’s exclusive deals with headset makers to make Google search  a default search engine water brought before the court as evidence.

In the end US district Judge Amit Mehta ruled that Google was a monopolist . And has acted as one to maintain its monopoly.

After the verdict , Google may lose its default browsing and search option in the mobile handset market if courts order .

Google has appealed in higher court against the current verdict .
