SC grants interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1
Supreme Court ( SC ) on Friday , granted interim bail to
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case till June 1 to
campaign for the Lok Sabha elections .
The two judge bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta
was delivering the verdict.
The Court ordered Kejriwal not to sign files , visit his
office , or comment on liquor policy case .
ED had contended that releasing politicians for poll campaigning
would send a wrong message that politicians were immune from arrest . ED had
said that other politicians may also use elections for bail .
Some of the observations of SC were :
●
SC said that each such case should be seen differently
. Court negated any propensity to use the present case for granting interim
bail in other cases .
●
SC highlighted that AAP was a national party and
General Elections was the most
“significant and important “ event this year
●
SC in its verdict confirmed that bail conditions
restricting political leaders from political activities and public rallies
amount to breach of fundamental right .

EC

unusual spike “ in the final voter turnout in comparision to the one released
