Court ruling on Alderman shows Delhi’s vulnerability to centre’s dominance
The editorial is about a recent judgement of the Supreme Court in which it held that it was statutory duty of LG of Delhi to appoint 10 persons of special knowledge in MCD ( Municipal Council of Delhi ) .
And LG didn’t need to take any advice from the Delhi Government in this regard .
SC referred to Delhi Municipal Act , 1957 which was amended in 1993 .
The petitioner was saying that LG should elect 10 Alderman only on the advice of Delhi government .
The editorial says that unlIke other states, the centre has power to alter any law made by the Delhihhh government . This accounts to interference in Delhi government .
