Five policeman sacked in J&K in drug , terror cases

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor ( LG ) invoked article 311 of constitution and terminated the services of six government employees on charges of being involved in activities prejudicial to the security of state .

Five of them are constables and one is a teacher .

In reports of security agencies they were found to be involved in narcotics smuggling and terrorist activities .

Article 311 deals with dismissal ,  removal and reduction in the rank of civil servants without a departmental inquiry after informing them about the charges against them and giving them a reasonable opportunity to be heard .

The decision of the authority is final .

Sophisticated. weapons given to Village defence guard in Jammu , says Union minister

Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Saturday that sophisticated weapons were provided to Village Defense Guard ( VDG ) to deal with rising incidents of terror activities in the region .

Jitendra Singh is MP from Udhampur .

The scheme to arm civilians was first started in 1996 in 10 districts of Jammu to tackle increased terrorist  attacks on Hindus .

Around 30,000 weapons were distributed in various phases to civilians .

It was later abolished after allegations of

 abduction and rape committed by villagers .

VDGs was revived in 2022 .

Sri Lanka Navy hands over mortal remains of T.N fishers , releases two others

The Srilankan Navy handed over two fisherman and mortal remains of a third to the Indian Navy near the International Maritime Boundary line .

The fisherman association in Rameshwaram had announced an indefinite strike demanding that Srilankan Navy secures the release of all 74 arrested fishermen from TamilNadu , who were languishing in Srilankan prison .

The other demand is that Srilankan Navy should return the vessels of Indian fishermen captured by them .

Himachal cloudburst rescuers spot victims

The search and rescue operation for 45 missing victims from Shimla ,  and Mandi resumed on Monday .

About 410 rescuers from the Army., ITBP. NDRF , SDRF , Himachal Pradesh police are involved in the search operation .

The death toll increased to eight after .

Of the total 30 people are missing in Samej village in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district .

In Uttarakhand army and air force is involved in an operation to rescue pilgrims stranded on the route of Kedarnath.  Trek routes of Kedarnath had suffered extensive damage after the cloudburst . IAF had deployed Chinook and M17 helicopters to airlift passengers .

Modernise forecast to start disaster mitigation measures start early , says Pinayari

Kerala chief minister Pinayari Vijayan has stressed the need to make the prediction model more modern , location specific and accurate , so that disaster can be mitigated .

Mr Vijayan in a press conference announced that a modern township would be developed in Wayanad for those displaced in the disaster .

He said that the state would invest in Climate Change Institute Kottayam to develop a Kerala specific weather forecast model .

The institute would also investigate the root cause of Kerala landslid

Mr Vijayan conceded that cloudburst and intense rain predictions were challenging .

He reiterated his demand to declare Wayanad  landslide a Natural disaster .

Rescue operation in Wayanad reaches final stage ; 206 still missing

The search and rescue operation reached the final stage in theSaturday five bodies were recovered .

The official death toll rose to 219 . of which 152 bodies were identified . Rescue workers retrieved 143 body parts from various locations . A total of 10, 042 people are staying in 93 relief camps .

More than 1200  of Indian Coast Guard , Army , Navy , NDRF ,  SDRF , Kerala and Tamilnadu rescue operation NGOs are involved in the operation .

Agricultural transformation in India a lesson for others

The 32 nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists was inaugurated in New Delhi on Saturday.

The theme of the conference is “ Transformation towards international food agri systems “

Inaugurating the event , PM Modi said that India’s journey from a food insecure nation to a nation that has surplus grain can be a lesson for global South countries .

India has now become a food surplus country , the largest producer of milk, pulses and spices and second largest producer of foodgrains , fruits , vegetables , cotton , sugar , tea and farmed fish .

PM Modi on Saturday said that India has the solution in the form of millet farming to address global challenges of nutrition , water scarcity and climate change .

Mr Modi said that the challenges can only be addressed under the holistic approach of “ one earth , one family and one future “ .

The conference is to be attended by  1000 delegates from 75 counties .

37 killed in al Shadaab attack on busy Mogadishu beach

An Al Shadab suicide bomber attacked a busy streets of Somalian capital Mogadishu killed 37 and injured 64 . Some of them were critically injured .

Al Shadab is Al qaeda linked terrorist organisation . The group is particularly active in Somalia and nearby countries .

Hezbollah expected to hit targets deeper inside  Israel  : Iran

Iran said on Saturday that it expects Hezbollah to hit deeper inside Israel and no longer be confined to military targets .

Israel in a recent airstrike in Beirut killed Hezbollah commander Faud Sukr . In another strike it killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh .

Hezbollah and Iran both have warned Israel of retaliation .

 It is being expected that the target this time will be strategic centres of Israel such as Tel Aviv and Haifa .

Iran vows revenge says Short range strike killed Haniyeh

Iran’s revolutionary guard said that a short range missile rocket of 7 kg was behind the killing of Hamas Political Chef Isameil Haniyeh and accused the US of supporting the attack , which it blamed on Israel .

Hanniyeh was  in Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of newly elected president Masoud Pezeskian .
