Saini takes over as Haryana CM , after BJP BJP alliance splits up

·         Haryana state BJP president and MP Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the new CM of the state .

·         Earlier Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as CM after a seat sharing deal with JanNayak Janta Party ( JJP ) broke away .

·         Haryana Assembly has total 90 seats out of which BJP has 41 seats , 6 are independent and JJP has 10 seats . 46 MLAs are required to form the government .

·         New CM Nayab Saini said that he had support of 48 MLAs .

‘Citizenship comes under domain of center , state govt have no role in CAA implementation’

·         The task of processing the application under CAA has been entrusted to postal department and census officials who function under the center .

·         Also the enquiry of the background of the person will be done by Intelligence bureau and other central security agencies .

·         The mode of filling the application is online , these leaves little or no scope for the involvement of any state police .

·         Recently CM of TamilNadu M.K Stalin said that CAA will  not be implemented in Tamilnadu , citing that it was against minorities and Srilankan Tamils living in state camps .

·         Constitutionally ,  citizenship comes under Union  list and states can not interfere with this

CAA won’t impact citizenship of Indian Muslims

·         The Union home Ministry has put a press note on its websites that answers eight questions about the impact of CAA on Muslim Population .

·         The Home ministry here has clarified that No Indians will be asked to produce any document to prove his citizenship , it says that CAA has nothing to do with 18 crore Indians who have equal rights as their Hindu Counterparts .

SBI submits Electoral bond data to Election Commission

·         A day after the Supreme Court directive , the State Bank of India , on Tuesday submitted to the Electoral n commission ( EC ) the details of Electoral bonds purchased . This was confirmed by EC in a tweet .

Inflation still under at 5.1% , but food prices rise

·         India’s retail inflation stood 5.09 % in February compared to 5.1% in January .

·         Food price inflation was 8.66% compared to 8.3% in January . Vegetable prices rose to 30.25% .

UP case gives life sentence to 10 in Hapur lynching case

·         A Sessions court in Hapur , Uttar Pradesh , on Monday convicted 10 persons and sentenced them to life imprisonment in lynching case of 2018 in which a mob killed a man over rumours of cow slaughter .

Pokhran witness to self reliance  , confidence and glory ,says PM

·         PM Modi witnessed “ Exercises Bharat Shakti “ in Pokhran .

·         During the exercise simulated , realistic , synergised , multi domain operations displaying integrated operational capabilities of Indian armed forces to counter threats of land , water and season were displayed .

·         PM Modi on this occasion stressed on  being  self-reliant in Defense . 

PM unveils projects worth ₹1 lakh crore from Gujrat

·         PM Modi on Tuesday inaugurated or dedicated projects worth ₹85,000 crore . He flagged off 10 Vande Bharat trains. 

·         PM Modi dedicated nation two new section of Dedicated Freight Corridor

(1)  New Khurja to Sahnewal sections ( 401 km ) along Eastern DFC

(2)   and New Makarpura to New Gholvad ( 244 km ) along western section of DFC

·         The PM also laid the foundation stone of the petrochemical project of Petronet LNG at the cost of 20,600 at Dahej , Gujrat .

·         PM Modi also inaugurated Kochrab Ashram and led a master plan for development of Sabarmati Ashram Project in Gujarat .

·         Kochrab Ashram in Ahmedabad is the first Ashram established by Mahatma Gandhi .

·         The other two residences of Gandhiji in India was Sabarmati Ashram  in Gujarat and Sevagram in Maharashtra .

Tejas aircraft crashes in Jaisalmer first since mainde flight in 2001

·         A Tejas light Combat Aircraft of Indian Air Force ( IAF ) crashes at Jaisalmer during operational training sortie on Tuesday . This is the first incident of a Tejas crash since its induction in 2001 .

·         A court of enquiry has been constituted  to find the cause of the accident .

‘ India was top arm importer in 2019-2023’

Swedish think tank ‘ Stockholm International Peace Research Institute ( SIPRI ) ‘ has released its report on Monday . The report has the following major points.

     During 2019-23 the top three arms importers were India , Saudi Arabia and Qatar . Ukraine and Pakistan are fourth and fifth countries in Arms import .

     The five largest exporters of arms were the US , France , Russia , China and Germany .

     Arms export by the US went up by 17 % . Arms export by Russia  went down by 55% . While arms export by France increased by 47% . France just moved above Russia to become the second largest arms exporter .

     The arms import by Ukraine was 94% , that was 55% higher than European arms import

On India

     India was the top arms importer in the world in the period .

Russia remained India’s largest arms supplier  ( accounting for 36% of arms import ) .

Give Kerala one time package to tide over  financial crisis , SC tells Kerala

·         The Supreme Court on Tuesday urged the center to give Kerala one time payment before March 31 .

·         Justice  Suryakant Mishra said “ Before March 31 give them the special package , but subject to harsher condition than other states “

·         The Attorney General arguing for the center said “ bailout package is impossible “ . He cited the center not being liberal with other states .

·         Center had earlier accused Kerala of “ one of the most financially unhealthy states “ .

·         Kerala had accused the center of govt had violated federal structure by limiting borrowing which led the state to financial emergency .

Top court set aside Karnataka HC interim order allowing board exam for classes 5,8,9 and 11

·         The Supreme Court has set aside the interim order of Karnataka High Court  that allows board exams for 5,8 ,9 , 11 .

·         Sections 2(f ) , 16 and 30 of Right to Education act  prohibits children from taking rigorous board exams till they finish elementary education .

·         A division bench of Karnataka high court in its interim order had allowed board exams for 5,8,9 and 11 .

·         This was after sessions court and a single bench of High court

Indian troops begin Maldives withdrawal after govt order

·         Some 25 Indian troops stationed in Maldives has  withdrawn from Addu Atoll  , the rest of them will be withdrawn in batches before May 10 .

·         The Maldives recently is moving closer to China .

·         After Recent visit of its President to China , it is increasing its defense with Chinese and other countries’ help . 

Israel ,  Hamas  ‘ not near a deal ‘ on Gaza truce : Qatar

·         Qatar on Tuesday said that despite efforts by the mediators US, Egypt and Qatar  no truce seems likely between. Israel and Hamas .

·         Ramdan Month starts on Monday . It was being expected earlier that a truce  before Ramadan was likely .

·         Israeli retaliation.  bombing has killed 31,112 till now .

Haiti PM promises to quit after forming transitional council

·         Haitian President Ariel Henry on Tuesday said that he would resign once a transitional Presidential council is created .

·         This comes after international Pressure increased after the recent meeting of Carribean island leaders and the US secretary of state in Jamaica .

Musk to ‘ Open Source ‘ his Grok chatbot to tackle rival via ChatGPT

·         Elon Musk on Tuesday said that he would make his chatbot ‘ Grok ‘ open source  as his feud with Open AI deepens .

·         If the platform is made ‘ open source ‘ any one will be able to access its source code .
