1563 NEET scoreboards with Grace marks canceled , govt informs SC

The Supreme Court recorded the Union government’s submission on Thursday ,that the scoreboard of 1563 candidates granted compensatory marks in the NEET UG 2024 will stand canceled .

These students will have to appear in a retest conducted on June 23 . If they decide to skip the retest their original scores without the Grace marks will be treated as final .

The Court was hearing a petition challenging the award of Grace marks to 1563 candidates on the ground that they were not allowed the full period of 3.2 hours to write the exam at their respective center’s. .

Grace marks was  recommended by a committee formed by NTA .

Kuwait offers help to return bodies of expats killed in fire

Minister of State of External Affairs theKirtivardhan Singh expressed full support to their “ full support , including for medical care and early repatriation of mortal remains , and investigation of the incident .

Mr Kirtivardhan met Foreign Ministers and Deputy foreign Ministers of Kuwait .

In a conversation with EAM S . Jaishankar, Kuwaiti foreign minister said that the incident would be investigated and “ responsibility would be fixed “ .

The cause of the incident seems to be a possible gas leak but an investigation ha been launched  in the case .

Jarange Patil ends fast gives a month to govt to accept its demands

Maharashtra quota activist Jarange Patil on Thursday decided to end his fast six days after he started it , granting Eknath Shinde government a one month deadline to accept community demand .

On June 8 , he had started his fast demanding to implement the notification to give all Maratha communities the status of Kunbis .

Kunbi community in Maharashtra comes under OBC category .

Earlier , Maharashtra Government had passed a bill to give 10 % reservation to Maratha community .

Fact Finding team must probe Rajkot fire , days Gujarat HC

The Gujarat High Court on Thursday slammed the state government and directed it to set up a “ fact finding committee “ to probe Rajkot game Zone fire incident. .

The court asked to prove the role of authority to allow the structure to come up and remaining fictional without any license .

The court also mandated fire safety inspections for schools across the state .

Prema Khandu sworn in as CM of Arunachal Pradesh for third time

Arunachal Pradesh CM Prema Khandu was sworn in as CM in Itanagar on Thursday .

He will be CM of the state for the third time in a row .

BJP won  46 out of 60 assembly seats in the Assembly .

India rejects references to J&K in China ,Pak remarks

India on Thursday  “  unwarranted “ references of Jammu and Kashmir in a recent joint statement  .EAM Spokesperson further started J&K to be integral and inalienable part of India .

The Joint statement was issued in Beijing on June 7 , following talks between Pakistan PM

Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif recently was on China’s visit .

In a joint statement it was said that the Pakistani side briefed the Chinese side about the latest development in Jammu. and Kashmir .

The Chinese side reiterated that the “ Jammu and Kashmir problem is left over from history , and should be peacefully resolved ……“

Manipur govt formed a panel to oversee rehabilitation of internally displaced persons

Nearly 1000 people were recently displaced after violence in Jiribam. Till now about 50,000 people has been internally displaced since the conflict began .

US , Europe lock up Russian assets until it pays for Ukraine war

As G7 leaders met in Puglia Italy on 13 th June , some major decisions were taken over Russia Ukraine conflict .

     The US and EU leaders agreed to lock up sanctioned Russian assets , until Moscow pays reparations for its invasion in Ukraine , a senior US official in Ukraine said .

Currently 260 billion dollars worth of frozen Russian  assets are there mostly in Europe .

     The group also announced a 50 billion dollar loan package to Ukraine.

     Joe Biden signed a 10 year security agreement with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky .

US NSA Jake Sullivan said the deal to be a “ real marker “ of US commitment  towards security of Ukraine .

Hezbollah attacks Israeli bases as Gaza war rages

Labnan based Hezbollah said that it had targeted six barracks and military sites of Israel with drones and rockets .

This comes after an Israeli strike killed one of its commanders.

Turkiye to buy F 16 warplanes from Russia

Turkiye and the United States have signed a contract for the sake of F16 warplanes  .

Under the deal Turkiye will get 40 new F16s and upgrade 79 of the existing jets in its fleet .

Court rejects bill to restrict abortion pill

The US Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a bid to restrict a pill widely used to terminate pregnancies.

Micepristone , a abortion pill, has been in the middle of debate .

Abortion. Rights are among the key issues for the upcoming elections . Many states have their own abortion laws .

In general  Democrats are in favor of abortion right while Republicans are against it .

Eight EU members want to curb movement of Russian diplomat

Foreign Ministers of Eight EU countries , have sent a letter to bloc’s foreign policy chiefs , asking him to curb Russian diplomats movement in the Schengen area .

The letter to EU  foreign policy chief Josep Borell was signed by the Czech , Danish , Dutch , Estonian,Lithuanian , Latavinan , Polish and Romanian ministers and dates June 11 .

The proposed measure “  will significantly narrow operational space for Russian agents . “.

The ministers have cited that intelligence propaganda that is going to divide Europe is the main workload for a large number of Russian ‘ Diplomats ‘ in the EU .

The BJP government should continue development schemes in Odisha

The editorial is about the new Odisha government led by Mohan Charan. majhi.

He will replace Naveen Patnaik who was at the post for 24 years .

Mr Majhi will have many challenges at its front like Odisha’s poor position in the multidimensional Poverty Index . His predecessor Naveen Patnaik had quite a good reach in delivering welfare schemes to the poor .

Still poverty is a major problem of the state .

The editorial says that the new CM should carry the good work done by previous CM also , apart from making new schemes of its own .

Science is now too vast to be admi layered by one minister

Jitendra Singh has been given independent charges by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

His portfolio spans from Department of Space ( DoS ) , Atomic Energy ( DAE ) ,Ministry of Earth Science  ( MoES ) , Ministry of Science and Technology ( MST ) .

These departments are facing many challenges .

It requires a  minimum of a cabinet  minister  that will be helpful in curbing the challenges .

 PA 100 AST system from Sysmex Astrego was awarded the Longitude prize this week .

The PA 100 AST has developed a technology of testing on Urinary tract infection . It performs Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing ( AST ) to determine the effective antibiotic for a specific partient under 45 minutes .

The test has potential to revolutionize infection management and global efforts to tackle antimicrobial resistance .

Longitude Prize – The Longitude prize is given in the field to find solution of Antimicrobial Resistance  ( AMR )

AMR means that microbes that cause disease become immune to antibiotics . And it is hard to treat the patient in such cases
