The Union government on Tuesday , announced the appointment as the next chief of Army staff.

After friction , Chinese PM greets Modi for third term

Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang sent a congratulatory  message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was sworn into office for a third time .

Li said  that the Sound and steady development of China India relations is not only conducive to the well being of the two peoples but also injects stability and positive energy into the region and the world.

He said that China is willing to work with India to push bilateral relation in the right direction.

SC allows counselling seeks NTA response on NEET ‘  papers leak ‘

A vacation bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday , sought response from National Testing Agency ( NTA )  over allegations of Question paper leaks and other irregularities .

But the bench allowed the counseling process to undergo as per schedule .

The court said that the allegations directly affect “ Sanctity “ of the NEET .

The next hearing of the case is on July 8 .

Students have alleged widespread irregularities in the test . The Petitioner’s had sought Judicial enquiry into the issue .

UNSC endorses resolution to end war on Gaza

The United Nations Security Council in Monday overwhelmingly approved the plan aimed at ending eight month ceasefire in Gaza .

The resolution has three stage ceasefire plan in Gaza , which was proposed by US president Joe Biden .

The resolution was passed by 14 votes in its favor and  Russia abstaining.

The resolution said that Israel has already accepted the plan and it is Hamas to accept it .

Israeli PM Netanyahu has recently said that Israel is still committed to destroy Hamas .

Hamas has said that it welcomes the resolution and is ready to work with mediators . But a recent statement from Hamas stressed that the group would continue its struggle against Israel .

Currently US secretary of state Antony Blinken is in Middle East to work the plan .

A jury of US court has convicted Hunter Biden was convicted on Handgun charges .

Hunter Biden is son of US President  Joe Biden .

‘ Horrified ‘ by the plight of plantation workers in SriLanka , says Tribunal

An international tribunal of former judges from the region said that it was “ horrified by stark realities “ of the lives of Srilanka’s tea and rubber plantation workers  , after hearing the testimonies from workers and trade unions .

The three tribunal judges were from India , Nepal and Srilanka .

The tea and rubber plantation workers in SriLanka mostly hailing from Malaiyaha Tamil community .  Low wage , abscene of sanitation facilities , absence of medical facilities , soaring living costs are some problems they are facing .

Israeli groups and Palestinian armed groups committed crimes : UN

The UN human rights office has cited possible war crime by Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups in connection with a deadly raid by Israeli forces that freed four hostages over the weekend and killed hundreds of Palestinians .

In Saturday’s raid on Nusseirat Refugee camp  Plaestinian health official said at least 274 Platestinians including dozens of women and children , were killed in the operation .

The cabinet has included all communities except Muslims . Christian , Sikhs has been included in the list .

No ban on books or films can be justified in the name of upholding order

The editorial is about recent decision of Karnataka government to stop the release of film ,Hamaare Baarah . The film is about  Muslim family which had 12 kids . The ban was because of protest by Muslim organisations about showing the community in such light .

The editorial says that government should not ban the film just for the sake of freedom of expression .

The Court cites 1989 judgement of SC over the film Oru Oru Gramathile the landmark verdict of SC said “… freedom of expression cannot be suppressed on account of threat of demonstration and processions or threats of violence , “ .

Researchers have build a portable optical atomic clock thar can be used on oard ships . While it traded some accuracy for size and robustness , it was still more accurate than other vessel borne time keeping options .

This is the most performant optical clock at sea .

Atomic clock uses Cesium isotope  Cs -133   to determine timing .

GPS works on atomic clock . India uses Rubidium atomic clock for its own navigatinal satellite Navic .

UN declares 2025 the year of quantum science

The United Nations has said that 2025 will be _ “ international year of quantum Science and Technology “ .

 

In India government announced ‘ National Quantum Mission ‘ in April 2023 at a cost of ₹6000 crore to be implemented by Department of Science and Technology .
